Slopes of Aiguille du Midi

This shot from one of the look out decks near the peak of the Aiguille du Midi in Chamonix, France, makes it easy to see why the Mt. Blanc massif is such a climbing, hiking, and skiing paradise. Shot in August 2017.Aguille du Midi.jpg

August flower

I really like this juxtaposition of a delicate, dried, end of summer flower head imposed against the looming figure of Mt. Blanc, the tallest mountain in Europe.

Mt. Blanc Mountain Sheep

Came across a flock of sheep on the first day of the Tour du Mont Blanc, and this one let me get close enough to take a friendly photo.

Forgotten Limestone Quarry

This limestone quarry in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan used to be one of my favorite swimming spots as a kid, but it’s been closed down and mostly abandoned for the last few years.Calsbar Quarry.jpg

Free diving in the Caribbean

I had my first chance to use my GoPro while snorkeling in Bocas del Toro, Panama. This shot was from about 10 feet down, and really shows the beautiful green that this water turned when the sun came out.GOPR2297.jpg

Northern Lesser Anteater – Corcovado National Park, Costa Rica

We came close to a Norther Lesser Anteater (Tamandua mexicana) while hiking in Corcovado National Park, Costa Rica. The pattern on it’s coat was surprisingly beautiful, and it was quick to climb a tree once it noticed us – they have terrible eyesight and walked very close to us before it realized we were standing frozen on the trail next to it! Very strong smell, almost like a skunk, so if you’re hiking in the park and smell skunk, it’s most likely one of these!
