This limestone quarry in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan used to be one of my favorite swimming spots as a kid, but it’s been closed down and mostly abandoned for the last few years.

Midnight Lotus in the Emperor’s Garden
Free diving in the Caribbean
I had my first chance to use my GoPro while snorkeling in Bocas del Toro, Panama. This shot was from about 10 feet down, and really shows the beautiful green that this water turned when the sun came out.
Watercolor Diving
I snapped this shot from about 15 feet under the subject, while snorkeling in Bocas del Toro, Panama. Beautiful waters, and nearly crystal clear, although we found out that January wasn’t the best time for snorkeling because of high surf.
A droplet in the waves
I am a droplet of water
Born in the clouds
Fallen to the sea
A single drop among the waves
Battered by the elements
Taken to plunging depths
I am a droplet of water
Born in the ocean
I am the entire sea
Sea turtle staring contest
The expression that this turtle displays in his venerable eyes is part of the reason that I love turtles so much!
Joy becomes us
God looked down at me
With tears in his eyes
The ocean in each drop,
That salt burned
The freshly opened wounds
A hole torn through
My chest ripped open
But his tears did cleanse
And in time passed the pain
After 40 days of death
And 40 nights of birth
Broke the sun
From humble clouds
In the shape of your face
The heavens opened
For but a moment
And I saw all of eternity
A vast plain of peace
As clearly as a reflection
I looked at the future
As vision of grace
And joy became us
Day and night on the beach
A tide pool on Myrtle Beach, South Carolina throws off a reflection that’s unsure if it’s day or night.
Lake Atitlan at Daybreak
The subdued blues of the rising sun over Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, highlight how serene the mountains surrounding the lake appear at the break of day. By early morning, the towns and villages surrounding this highland lake are buzzing with farmers, artisans, trade boats, and tourists.
Sailing from time
Over the bow
I stared deep into the blue
A reflection looked back
Dark, it watched me
We fell, we swam, and we drown
We became the sea
We became the sun
We were lost in time
Time forgot to hold us
We forgot to watch the time
