Silence

Dark skies

Rolling, rolling
It crashed over the horizon

They listened
But their fear couldn’t silence the thunder

To listen

I only want to listen
While you aren’t speaking
Because in the silence
You tell me more than all of the intricate words

A silent storm

The silence,
Golden like the dawn
It gave me space
New to me
After a turbulent year
It came to me
Like a tropical storm
Forceful, beautiful in its terror
Washing everything clear
Torn from the past
A flood came
From above
From below
All sides
Nothing could be denied
Nothing was the same
It came freely
It rolled over me
It took control
It electrified my senses
And I was alive once again

What the night brings

The night fell upon us
heavy and dark
insulating us
with its downy fringes
and that night I dreamt
of a wave of death
pure and forgiving
full of promising warmth
and I truly hoped
the night left us in silence
